This has been a bad week. Was pushing some brush with the loader on my B7610HSD. Backed up and heard a 2 second grinding noise, then smelled antifreeze. I shut it down immediately and inspected. 3/5 fan blades are abraded on the radiator side only, and several of the core tubes were gouged out near the top. There was NO damage to any shields or the fan shroud. I'm not entirely clear what happened, but the dealer thinks it may have been a stick hitting the fan. What do you guys think? Do you think a stick could have made it past all of the shields, caused damage, and not leave a trace (ie, no stick debris)? If warranty doesn't cover it, it looks like it's going to cost fan/$31, radiator/$234, + labor/tractor pickup/delivery.

Sure sounds like it to me.
A stick will get a rad and or fan faster than you can believe.
Your lucky you noticed it, some people don't, that is usually REAL expensive.
Best of luck. ....

I have a 7510 with 8 (yes, that's eight!) hours on it. I was proudly showing it to my friend who asked, "What happened to your grill?" I too was moving a big pile of brush; I must have hit a stick which caved in the driver's side grill/mesh. On the bright side, I guess by creating the first blemish I don't have to worry any more about the first chip in the paint... ....

I guess that if it was a stick, then I'll just have to suck it up as experience. After all, it could have been much worse.
Next question: Do you think it might be possible to add some more shielding to prevent something like this from happening in the future (without voiding warranty)? Does anyone sell after-market shields?
Thanks for your input! ....

Yep, sticks. I hate sticks! A stick ripped some wires out under my JD that engage/disengage 4WD when I used my brush chopper to chop up rows or brush. I am thinking of bolting some plywood under the tractor before I chop any more brush.
When I was a kid I borrowed a brush chopper from my apple farmer neighbor to clear out my Dad's property. I pulled up to a plum tree, backed up, and water was shooting out of the radiator. I had pulled right into a sharp piece of dead limb sticking out from the trunk. As a dopey kid I thought that tractors couldn't get hurt from that sort of thing. That was the last time I borrowed a tractor. ....

nc, Tractorsmart is a good source of replacement parts if you don't want to live with that first blemish. You may give them a try. ....

I had a stick get into the HST cooling fan under the operator deck on my BX. Luckily there was no damage, just a blood-curdling sound. Also had one pull on a dangling electrical cable which loosened the main fuse. That caused me not to be able to turn off the engine because the fuel shut-off solenoid wasn't getting power! I taped the heck outta the fuse and secured the cable better to prevent the issue in the future. I was kinda surprised about the lousy cable routing and lack of underbody protection, but they're all like that I guess. ....

Rental Upgrade Kit is Deere-speak for their kits targeted for tractors sold to rental companies. They include skid plates to protect the underside of the tractor as well as other misc. items (C-Range lockouts on hydros, switch close-out plates, etc). Deere also sells "hardening" kits that add additional hood protection, kevlar jackets for hoses, and other stuff like that.
I've never heard of Kubota offering skid plates or kits like this. ....

Deere probably only made them for the models that are popular for rental, and then only when some rental outfit requested them. Regardless, at least for the mid-frame JD machines the rental upgrade kit has been discontinued, so if anyone wants one you should order it ASAP. ....
